How to assemble your Ikea Purchase CORRECTLY the First time

Upon delivery, quickly inspect the outside of the boxes for any visible tears or bruises in the cardboard. That normally indicates damage, a scratch or something more serious and would be dealt with accordingly while the delivery company is still present.

Next, unpack your purchase, removing all debris, except for the cardboard you are working on. Always work on the cardboard to eliminate any damage to your floor. You do want your Floor Scratch Free!

Next, take a large plastic box, any plastic container with enough space to evenly distribute hardware without any rolling on the floor. A tiny screw could do big damage if stuck under your cardboard with you working on it.

Read all instructions before step one on your instructions.

Always make sure you have the correct tools, or you could end up spending a day or 2. You need a Cordless Drill (make sure its full charged) and Ikea’s Tool set. It’s cheap, and you are going to need it, especially for their Bits which again, you will NEED or you will be doing everything by hand.

The first page on most Ikea Instructions will give you a diagram of the hardware with pictures and codes. Always match up all parts to your pictures first, so you know what size screw to use. You don’t want to drill a hole through your product. It could be costly!

Begin your Assembly with step 1. Always place your corresponding piece according to the directions. This could save you on the long run. Make sure the pieces are identical to those on the instructions and you can’t go wrong.
